Satya Nadella and Mustafa Suleyman have signed off on two internal memos to formalize a major reorganization of the team behind Copilot. The key change is the merger of Copilot’s commercial and consumer efforts, which had previously operated as separate units. Going forward, they will be organized around four connected pillars: the Copilot experience, the Copilot platform, Microsoft 365 apps, and AI models. Microsoft’s stated goal is to move from a collection of good products to a truly integrated system that is simpler and more powerful for customers.

A full Copilot leadership team is now in place. Jacob Andreou has been named executive vice president of Copilot and will report directly to Satya Nadella. He will lead the combined commercial and consumer teams, overseeing design, product, growth, and engineering. At the same time, Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft AI, will focus entirely on superintelligence efforts and on delivering world-class models over the next five years.

Three additional leaders are joining the Copilot team to round out the structure. Ryan Roslansky, Perry Clarke, and Charles Lamanna will oversee Microsoft 365 applications and the Copilot platform. They are effectively taking over from Rajesh Jha, who announced his retirement this month.

The reshuffle comes as Microsoft accelerates its push into agentic AI. Nadella pointed to recent announcements including Copilot Tasks, Copilot Cowork, agentic features in Office, and Agent 365. In late January, he also disclosed for the first time that M365 Copilot had reached 15 million annual users. That figure does not include the more limited Copilot chat features available without a full license, meaning Microsoft’s AI exposure is broader than that number suggests.

Microsoft says Copilot is already widely deployed in large enterprises: nearly 70% of Fortune 500 companies are using it or have begun rollouts. Still, outside analyses temper that picture, noting that actual usage is often concentrated among pilot groups and that AI features are sometimes underused relative to the number of licenses purchased.

En parallèle, Mustafa Suleyman, le patron de Micorosoft AI, consacre désormais toute son énergie aux efforts de superintelligence et à la livraison de modèles de classe mondiale sur les cinq prochaines années.

Pour compléter cette structure, trois autres dirigeants rejoignent l’équipe Copilot. Ryan Roslansky, Perry Clarke et Charles Lamanna piloteront les applications Microsoft 365 et la plateforme Copilot. Ils prennent ainsi la relève de Rajesh Jha, qui a annoncé ce mois-ci son départ à la retraite.

L’ère agentique comme horizon

Ce remaniement intervient dans un contexte d’accélération des capacités agentiques. Satya Nadella cite notamment les récentes annonces de Copilot Tasks, Copilot Cowork, des fonctionnalités agentiques dans Office et Agent 365.

Fin janvier, il avait révélé pour la première fois que M365 Copilot comptait 15 millions d’utilisateurs annuels. Ce volume exclut les fonctions de chat Copilot plus limitées, accessibles sans licence complète. La base d’utilisateurs exposée à l’IA Microsoft est donc plus large.

Microsoft souligne une forte pénétration de Copilot dans les grandes entreprises. Près de 70% des sociétés du Fortune 500 l’utilisent déjà ou ont lancé des déploiements. Cependant, plusieurs analyses nuancent ce constat. L’usage effectif reste souvent concentré sur des groupes pilotes. Les fonctionnalités IA demeurent parfois sous-exploitées par rapport au parc de licences acheté.
