London-based start-up Olix has raised $312 million in a record funding round, just two years after its creation, and is now valued at $3.3 billion. The company says it wants to “revolutionize AI inference” with a new technical approach, positioning itself as a challenger in one of the most competitive areas of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Alongside the financing, Olix is also strengthening its governance by bringing in Nick McKeown to its board of directors. McKeown is best known as a co-inventor of software-defined networking (SDN), a signal that the company is seeking deep technical credibility as it pushes its vision forward.
The funding round and the board appointment underscore the scale of Olix’s ambitions: to build a fundamentally different model for AI inference, the stage where trained models are actually used to generate outputs. With this latest capital injection, the start-up has the resources to accelerate development and expand its strategy around that new approach.
