Rutronik has expanded its semiconductor portfolio through a global distribution agreement with Norwegian startup Nanopower, giving it access to the company’s PSICs, ultra-low-power circuits designed to keep IoT sensors running at nanoamp-level consumption. The technology is aimed at significantly extending battery life in connected devices, a key constraint in industrial and consumer IoT deployments.
The deal gives Rutronik worldwide distribution rights for Nanopower’s power-saving chips, strengthening its offering in a segment where energy efficiency is increasingly critical. By enabling sensors to operate at extremely low current levels, the PSICs are positioned as a way to reduce maintenance cycles and improve the autonomy of battery-powered objects.
The agreement underscores the growing demand for components that can support long-lived, low-maintenance IoT systems, while also giving Nanopower broader market access through an established semiconductor distributor.
