The French defence procurement agency DGA has awarded Airbus Defence and Space, as prime contractor, and Unseenlabs the development of Cassiopée, France’s future space-based electromagnetic intelligence capability. The system is intended to replace Ceres around 2032 and is expected to deliver higher performance and faster responsiveness.
Cassiopée will form the next generation of French satellite-based signals intelligence, building on the current Ceres programme. The contract notification marks the start of development work for a capability that is meant to strengthen France’s autonomous intelligence-gathering from space, with Airbus Defence and Space leading the project and Unseenlabs contributing its expertise.
