Scintil Photonics has appointed Alexandru Romanescu as vice president of process engineering, a move aimed at supporting the Grenoble-based company’s transition into serial production. Romanescu will use his experience to lead the qualification and yield optimization of the foundry network for SHIP, Scintil Heterogeneous Integrated Photonics, the company’s platform for silicon photonics.
The hiring comes as Scintil Photonics enters a new phase of industrialization, with the company focusing on scaling up manufacturing rather than only developing the technology. His role will be central to ensuring that the production ecosystem built around SHIP can meet the requirements of volume manufacturing, both in terms of process qualification and output performance.
Scintil Photonics is positioned in the silicon photonics sector, and this appointment underscores the company’s intent to strengthen its operational capabilities as it moves toward series production.
