Marill拥有约15年的科技行业经验。他曾在Groupon和Meta任职，2016年加入Airbnb，负责法国业务，2020年起领导EMEA区域，并曾兼任亚洲业务负责人两年，在Airbnb共工作十年。
Emmanuel Marill has been appointed as the new General Manager for the EMEA region at OpenAI, as announced via a LinkedIn post. Based in Paris—where OpenAI opened an office in December 2024 with approximately 40 employees—Marill will focus on structuring and accelerating operations across the region, which presents both high growth potential and significant regulatory challenges. He will report to Jason Kwon, OpenAI’s Chief Strategy Officer.
ChatGPT’s weekly active users in EMEA have surged by 70% year-over-year, with Germany, France, the UK, and Spain among the key markets. However, OpenAI faces increasing regulatory pressure from the European Union.
Marill brings over 15 years of tech industry experience. He previously held roles at Groupon and Meta before joining Airbnb in 2016 to lead its French operations. He later became head of EMEA activities in 2020 and also managed the Asian branch for two years, spending a total of a decade at Airbnb.
C’est par un billet LinkedIn qu‘il a officialisé l’information. « Je suis vraiment ravi de vous annoncer que je rejoins OpenAI en tant que directeur général pour la région EMEA », a écrit Emmanuel Marill.
Basé à Paris, un bureau ouvert en décembre 2024 et qui compterait une quarantaine de salariés en France, Emmanuel Marill aura pour missions essentielles la structuration et l’accélération des opérations dans une zone à fort potentiel, mais aussi sous forte contrainte réglementaire. Il reportera à Jason Kwon, directeur de la stratégie d’OpenAI.
Les utilisateurs hebdomadaires actifs de ChatGPT dans la région EMEA ont augmenté de 70 % depuis l’année dernière, l’Allemagne, la France, le Royaume-Uni et l’Espagne figurant parmi ses principaux marchés. Pour autant, OpenAI est confrontée à des pressions réglementaires croissantes de la part de l’UE.
Emmanuel Marill s’appuie sur une expérience d’une quinzaine d’années dans la tech. Après des passages chez Groupon et Meta, il a rejoint Airbnb en 2016 pour diriger la branche française de la plateforme, avant de prendre la tête des activités pour la région EMEA à partir de 2020. Il a également géré la branche asiatique pendant deux ans, passant au total une décennie chez Airbnb.
