Summary
The Chips Joint Undertaking, in cooperation with AENEAS and moderated by Patrick Cogez, will host an info session on June 18, 2026, for three new semiconductor skills calls launching July 7, 2026, with a total €45 million EU budget. The calls aim to address Europe's talent gap through Skills Hubs of Excellence (€20M), a Pilot Federation (€10M), and a Stimulation of Chip Design action (€15M), with co-funding from national authorities. This initiative supports the European Chips Act's objectives to bolster the semiconductor workforce and innovation ecosystem.

To combat Europe’s growing semiconductor talent shortage and align with the EU Chips Act, the Chips Joint Undertaking will launch three skills-focused calls on 7 July 2026. An online information session on 18 June 2026 (14:00–17:15 CEST), moderated by AENEAS Technical Director Patrick Cogez, will detail the opportunities. It will include Commission and national funding authority perspectives, call presentations from the Chips JU Office, project idea pitches, and dedicated Q&A. The calls: Skills Hubs of Excellence (€20M EU, with expected national co-financing), a Pilot Federation (€10M EU, also co-funded), and Stimulation of Chip Design (€15M, EU-only CSA). The submission deadline for all is 24 September 2026. AENEAS community members are urged to register.

Responding to the growing semiconductor skills shortage in Europe and the objectives of the European Chips Act, the Chips Joint Undertaking is launching three dedicated Skills-related Calls in July 2026 to support ambitious initiatives in semiconductor education, training, re-skilling, up-skilling and talent development across the European ecosystem.

To help the community better understand these upcoming opportunities and prepare future collaborations, the Chips JU Office, in cooperation with AENEAS, is organising the Info Session on the Chips JU 2026 Calls on Skills on 18 June 2026, 14:00 – 17:15 CEST.

What to expect?

The session will include 3 Call-related blocks, including:

highlights from the European Commission and National Funding Authorities;

presentations of the Calls by the Chips JU Office;

project idea presentations;

dedicated Q&A sessions for each Call.

This infosession is moderated by Patrick Cogez, AENEAS Technical Director.
