Ornikar, the French online driving school, has acquired rival En Voiture Simone to solidify its market lead and intensify pressure on competitors. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, combines two dominant digital platforms in driver education, creating an entity with over a million learner drivers and a network of more than 2,000 independent instructors.

The acquisition comes as the online driving school market fragments, with players like Lepermislibre also scaling up. By absorbing En Voiture Simone, Ornikar pools technology, customer bases, and operational expertise to accelerate growth and sharpen its offering. Benjamin Gaignault, co-founder and CEO of Ornikar, said the integration would “respond even better to candidates’ needs and reinforce our capacity to innovate.” Edouard Rudolf, founder of En Voiture Simone, welcomed the chance to “write the future of driving education together.”

Launched in 2014, Ornikar disrupted the traditional model by enabling users to study the Highway Code online and book lessons with freelancers. En Voiture Simone followed a similar path and quickly gained market share. The merger promises streamlined operations, broader geographic coverage, and potential new services such as motorcycle or boat licensing. Both brands will operate in the short term, with a gradual harmonization of offerings.

Beyond France, the combined group aims for profitability and has its eye on international markets, notably Spain. The consolidation sidelines smaller rivals and cements Ornikar’s position as digital transformation reshapes driver education.
