Valeo has inaugurated a dedicated production line for electric powertrains at its plant in Pune, India, marking a significant step in supporting the country's automotive electrification. The line, launched on March 28, manufactures integrated e-Axle systems for Indian automaker Mahindra's new "Born Electric" vehicle platform.
The new facility produces Valeo's 3-in-1 e-Axle systems, which combine the electric motor, power electronics, and transmission into a single compact unit. This production supports Mahindra's first dedicated electric vehicle platform, with the e-Axles destined for the Indian manufacturer's upcoming "Born Electric" SUV models.
Valeo's investment strengthens its industrial footprint in India, a key growth market for electric mobility. The move aligns with both the Indian government's push for vehicle electrification and global automakers' strategies to localize EV component production. This localized manufacturing enhances supply chain efficiency and supports Mahindra's ambitious plans to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in the coming years.
