Microchip Technology has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Israeli AI specialist Hailo, with closing expected by the end of September. The deal, whose value was not disclosed, gives Microchip access to Hailo’s AI processors, a customer base of more than 100 companies, and a developer community of 10,000.
The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Microchip’s position in embedded AI, a segment where demand is rising as more intelligence is pushed closer to devices and edge systems. By bringing Hailo’s technology into its portfolio, Microchip is adding specialized AI hardware and an established ecosystem that could accelerate its push into embedded applications.
Microchip announced the agreement at the end of July. No further financial terms were made public.
