Renesas Electronics has officially opened a physical AI and robotics laboratory in Beijing, a move designed to help customers jointly demonstrate and validate complete robotic systems on site. The facility is part of the company’s broader push into robotics, as Renesas says it wants to expand its coverage of humanoid robot bill of materials from about 30% today to 70%.
The new lab is intended to support end-to-end system validation rather than isolated component testing, giving customers a place to evaluate how hardware and software work together in real-world robotic applications. Renesas is positioning the site as a practical development and validation hub for physical AI and robotics, reflecting its ambition to play a much larger role in the humanoid robotics supply chain.
The announcement underscores the company’s strategic focus on robotics as demand grows for integrated platforms that combine sensing, control, compute and motion. By opening the Beijing laboratory, Renesas is seeking to strengthen customer collaboration and accelerate adoption of its technologies in next-generation robotic systems.
