Cailabs is moving from industrialization to full-scale production with Factory 27, a new nearly 10,000 m² site in Rennes designed to support its next phase of growth. The French deeptech, which specializes in optical communications, is preparing to ramp up manufacturing capacity to meet rising global demand for laser-based links.
The company’s target is to produce up to 50 optical ground stations per year by 2028. These stations are intended to serve the expanding market for laser communications, a segment gaining momentum worldwide as space and telecom players look for faster, more secure, and higher-capacity data transmission.
Factory 27 marks a major milestone for Cailabs as it shifts toward an industrial production model. The new facility is meant to give the company the scale needed to move beyond prototype and limited-series output, positioning it to capture a larger share of the New Space ecosystem as optical communications become increasingly strategic.
