Alstom has secured two major rail contracts in September, strengthening its order book on both sides of the Atlantic.
In Canada, VIA Rail has awarded the French manufacturer a C$4.7 billion contract, or about €2.9 billion, for 313 rail cars. The deal marks a significant win for Alstom in the North American market and underlines the scale of the operator’s fleet renewal and expansion needs.
In the United Kingdom, Alstom will supply TransPennine Express with 29 battery-electric trains in a contract worth more than €1.2 billion. The order adds to the company’s growing position in low-emission rolling stock, as rail operators look for alternatives to conventional diesel fleets.
Taken together, the two contracts highlight a strong commercial run for Alstom at the start of September and reinforce its role as a key supplier for large-scale rail modernization projects.
