Airbus has acquired French cybersecurity firm Quarkslab, a strategic move to bolster its defense and aerospace security capabilities. The acquisition, finalized on April 2, 2024, integrates Quarkslab’s expertise in software protection, reverse engineering, and embedded systems security into Airbus’s CyberSecurity portfolio.
Founded in 2011, Quarkslab is recognized for its advanced research and commercial tools like the QShield software protection suite and the QFlow reverse engineering platform. The Paris-based company employs around 80 specialists and has served high-profile clients including government agencies and major corporations in defense, finance, and technology.
Airbus stated the acquisition will enhance its offerings in "security evaluation, software protection, and cryptography," particularly for critical embedded systems in aviation, space, and defense. Quarkslab’s team will continue operating from its Paris headquarters as part of Airbus CyberSecurity.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal underscores Airbus’s focus on strengthening its in-house cybersecurity expertise amid growing threats to critical infrastructure and follows other recent strategic investments in the sector.
