Airbus has chosen French cloud provider Scaleway to host and modernize a range of critical business applications, with an eye toward integrating artificial intelligence capabilities. The aerospace group launched a tender seeking a partner able to deliver performant cloud resources, European operational control, legal security, and strategic autonomy for sensitive industrial data. Scaleway will provide a platform supporting applications across aircraft design, engineering, manufacturing, and corporate operations. The move is intended to strengthen protection of Airbus’s intellectual property and reliability of its global operations, according to the company. Catherine Jestin, Airbus’s digital director, highlighted that Mistral AI models already running on Scaleway’s infrastructure will help accelerate the company’s AI strategy. Under the roadmap, around 70 critical applications will be migrated by the end of 2028, with the potential to expand to up to 900 applications over the next five to six years.

Airbus avait lancé un appel d’offres pour identifier un fournisseur capable de combiner des capacités cloud performantes, un contrôle opérationnel européen, une sécurité juridique et une autonomie stratégique pour ses applications sensibles et ses données industrielles.
Scaleway fournira une plateforme pour prendre en charge des applications couvrant la conception des aéronefs, l’ingénierie, la production industrielle et les opérations de l’entreprise.
Selon Airbus, l’hébergement de ces systèmes dans un environnement cloud européen doit renforcer la protection de sa propriété intellectuelle et de ses données industrielles, tout en assurant la continuité de ses opérations aéronautiques à l’échelle mondiale.
« Le fait que les modèles Mistral soient déjà déployés sur l’infrastructure Scaleway nous permettra d’accélérer notre approche en matière d’IA », a déclaré Catherine Jestin, directrice du numérique chez Airbus.
Airbus migrera environ 70 applications critiques vers Scaleway d’ici fin 2028. Au maximum, le programme pourra couvrir jusqu’à 900 applications au cours des cinq à six prochaines années.
